How it works
Make a comic page layout in four steps.
- Pick a style and page size. Calm gives even grids for talking scenes. Action adds slanted cuts and panels that run off the page. Splash makes big shots for title pages.
- Roll a batch. Click New batch. Use the sliders to get more or fewer slants, bleeds, stacked panels and big panels. Set "Panels per page" if your script needs an exact number.
- Fine-tune one page. Click a page to open the editor. Drag a gutter to resize the panels next to it. Drag the dot at the end of a gutter to tilt it. Click a panel to split it, remove it, or let it bleed.
- Export. Download an SVG at the real page size, or a transparent PNG to lay over your art. Download all saves the whole batch as one ZIP.
Share a seed. The same seed and settings always give the same batch. Send your seed to a co-artist and they will see the exact same pages.
Export
Use your layout in any drawing app.
Every export keeps clean black frame lines. Turn on Numbers or Guide in the editor if you want them in the file too.
Layout tips
What makes a page easy to read.
- ✓Wider gutters between rows than between panels. The eye then reads across a row before it drops down. The defaults here are 6 mm between rows and 3 mm between panels.
- ✓One big panel per page. Save the biggest panel for the key moment. Turn up Big panels to get more of these.
- ✓Slants for action, straight cuts for talking. Slanted gutters add speed. Too many make a calm scene feel busy.
- ✓Bleed for scale. A panel that runs off the page edge feels bigger and more open. Keep text and faces inside the dashed safe area.
- ✓Check the reading order. Turn on reading order numbers. If a number jumps somewhere you did not expect, readers will get lost there too.

Western comics read left to right, then top to bottom. Manga reads right to left, then top to bottom. Switch the reading direction above the pages and the panel numbers follow it. Mirror flips a page between the two.
Export a transparent PNG at the size you need, then add it to your page as an image layer and set it as your reference layer for fills. Draw your own frame borders on top, or keep the PNG lines as your borders.
Download the SVG and use File, then Place Embedded. The SVG keeps the real page size in millimeters, so it lines up with a B5, A4, US Comic or Letter document at any resolution.
A panel that bleeds runs past the edge of the page, so the art goes all the way to the paper edge after trimming. Turn on Bleed in the export options to include the extra 3 mm (1/8 inch) a printer needs.
Manga B5, US Comic, A4 and US Letter for print, plus Instagram 4:5, Square 1:1 and Widescreen 16:9 for webcomics and social posts.
